Also on ESPN.com this morning...

... in the so sadly amusing it'll make you cry department, a new player rater. To give you an idea of where the White Sox stand, Magglio Ordonez--yes, former White Sox Magglio Ordonez--tops the list with an 87. Here are the top Sox hitters (tiny, I know, but deal with it):

Jim Thome is the only one to crack double digits--and he's at 16.3, tied with... wait for it... wait for it... Shawn Green. Wow. By contrast, the Reds have 4 hitters in double digits, and three in the 30s--Griffey, Dunn, and Brandon Phillips.

The pitchers fare only slightly better, screwed in part, I'm sure, by a lack of wins--something directly attributable to the lackluster offense:

Who, you ask, is just ahead of Bobby Jenks? Matt Guerrier. Again, who, you ask? The Twins' middle reliever, of course!

This player rater is bullshit. Did you see their All Star Projections? Apparently someone forgot to factor in fan voting. I'm pretty sure Aaron Rowand won't start for the NL.

I think the All-Star projections are based solely on the rating, then making sure one player from each team is represented. Does it seem likely that both James Shields and Al Reyes from Tampa Bay will make it? Maybe not...

Good to see Gil Meche will probably get the Royals' lone berth, though.

Um didnt Buehrle throw a no-hitter this year. I feel his rating should be slightly higher than 3.2.

Got to watch the Sox game last night since it was on ESPN. Awesome! I see they are still refusing to score runs. Ever.

Yeah that was a pitiful performance by the white sox. Is it football season yet?

speaking of football, i was at the gym yesterday and the tv was on but no sound. I saw a clip of Chad Johnson racing a horse. Can someone fill me in please?

I've said it before: Favorite non-Bears football player is definitely Chadwich. Guy's hilarious.

B.O.B.

Chad raced a horse. He got a 100m head start in a 200m race. The horse didn't stand a chance. It was for charity.

I enjoy that you actually obliged Bob with a response there.

I couldn't tell if he was kidding or not.

I actually wasnt kidding, its kind of a wierd thing to try and comprehend with no sound. All I saw was Chad way out in front of a sprinting horse on a race track- end of clip. I assumed that he didnt actually beat a horse in a footrace but I needed details.

Just read the string of comments on the soccer post. I now see why Brian thought I might be joking. I usually just skip the soccer posts, and then mumble something about Gates being a sally for watching soccer.
